Overview

Show what a paid plan unlocks with this free versus pro pricing section, shown here for Clipmark, a screen recorder. One card, not two: its head holds a large Free and Pro switch (a Segment Group with a sliding indicator), the price and the call to action on one row, and under it a single list of eight features in two columns of cells that share hairlines, between the page's side rails drawn by Guides. On Free, four of the eight rows carry a lock and read "Pro only". Flip the switch to Pro and the price rolls from $0 to $8 with Sliding Number, each lock turns into a check one row after the next, the values change (5 minutes to unlimited, 720p to 4K) and the cells take a light tint. The call to action changes with the plan, "Get Clipmark free" or "Start 14-day Pro trial", and is the section's only Shine Button in the primary colour. The title starts at the top of the column and the button is on the first screen. Built with Segment Group, Sliding Number, Shine Button, Guides and Lucide icons, with CSS transitions only. For freemium products with one free and one paid plan.

FAQ

How do I change the plans and the features?

PLANS holds the two plans: the switch's label, the price, the line under it, and the call to action's cta and href. FEATURES holds the rows: each has a name, what Pro gets (pro) and what Free gets (free), or null where the feature is locked on Free. A row with the same text on both plans shows a check in both. Keep the list to about eight, so the card stays one screen.

How does a screen reader follow the switch?

The switch is a radio group named "Plan": arrow keys move and select, and the choice is announced as "Pro, 2 of 2". A status line hidden from sight says "Pro plan: $8 per month, 8 of 8 features unlocked" each time it changes, and every feature says whether it is locked on Free or included. The lock and check icons are hidden from assistive technology, so nothing is said twice.

What happens with reduced motion?

The price and the locks change at once. The roll of the price (Sliding Number), the cross-fade of each lock into a check and the tint of the cells are all CSS transitions that switch off under prefers-reduced-motion, so the final state is the same, and nothing waits for an animation to finish before it can be read.

How do I send each plan to its own page?

The call to action is a real link whose href comes from the chosen plan. It's a ShineButton with render set to an a element and nativeButton={false}. Point Free at your download or sign-up page and Pro at a checkout for the Pro plan, with the trial already selected.

How does it look on a phone?

Below the md breakpoint the card's head stacks: the switch across the full width, the price, then a full-width button, so the button sits within the first screen and a half, and the eight features follow in one column. From md the switch, the price and the button share one row and the features form two columns.

When should I use one card with a switch instead of two plan cards?

When the decision is a single upgrade and the question is what Pro adds. One list shows each feature once and changes in place, which is easier to read than two lists to compare. With three or more plans, or buyers who want to compare prices and limits at once, use plan cards or a table.

  • Pro

A free Personal plan beside the recommended Team plan as two cards in cards, with the monthly and annual switch in the header row and Team's price rolling to its annual amount.

  • Pro

The paywall itself: a spending report that turns blurred under a lock and an Unlock with Premium panel, with the Premium plan, its price and its button beside it and the Free plan under it.

  • Pro

    Side by Side Pricing

    Comparison tables

A before and after reveal: drag a handle across one photo editor to turn the Free version into the Pro version, with each half's price and button right under it.

  • Pro

    Feature Diff Pricing

    Comparison tables

One upgrade shown value by value: the price and call to action in one column, and in the other a ruled ledger with the Free limit struck through beside the Pro value on every row.

  • Pro

    Billing Toggle Pricing

    Billing switches

Three plan cards under a monthly and yearly switch that wears its saving in the header row, with prices that roll to their new amount and each plan a card in a card.

  • Pro

One plan in the spotlight: an oversized card under a monochrome cone of light with the price as the largest type on the page, a monthly and yearly switch, and a short pitch beside it.
