Overview

Award data sheets for React with Base UI. Three sheets sit apart in a row, each like a small spec card: a drawn mark (a hexagon, a scalloped seal with a star, a pentagon crest) beside the award's name, then a description list under a hairline giving the result, the programme, the category, the number of entries judged, the date it was announced and the prize. Each sheet's lines overshoot its corners and end in + marks, set 2rem apart, and the header counts the entries across the three ("3 awards, judged against 4,310 entries"). Three sheets across from lg; stacked on a phone, where each list keeps its two columns of label and value. It's built from Guides, Data List, inline SVG and your theme's tokens, with a CSS transition for the entrance. The awards, programmes and figures are made up for the example: replace them with your own.

FAQ

How do I change what a sheet says?

Edit AWARDS at the top of the file. Each sheet has a title, a result ("Gold", "Winner", "Finalist"), the programme, the category, entries (a number), date (an ISO day, such as 2025-03-04) and the prize. The entries are formatted with a fixed locale and the date is written in a fixed locale and zone, so the server and the browser always print the same text. To add a row to every sheet, add a field and a DataListItem.

Where does the header's count come from?

It is summed from the sheets: the number of awards and the total of their entries. Change a sheet's entries and the header updates, so it always matches the cards.

Are the dates computed from today?

No. A date is fixed in the data, because an award announced in March 2025 stays March 2025. Each date is a time element with the ISO day as its datetime, so assistive technology and search engines read it exactly.

Are these real awards?

No. Oakcroft, Emberthorpe and Gannerwick are made-up programmes and Owlcombe a made-up tool; the entry counts and prizes are example figures. The marks are drawn by the block. If you show a real award, use its name in text and its official badge only where its rules allow it.

How do screen readers read a sheet?

The three sheets are a list named Award data sheets. Each has the award's name as a heading followed by a description list whose terms (Result, Programme, Category, Entries judged, Announced, Prize) are read with their values. The drawn marks are hidden from assistive technology, and each number and date sits in a bdi element so it keeps its order in a right-to-left layout.

How does it fit on a phone?

The sheets stack one per row with their lines overshooting by 2rem, so they sit inset from the page's rails. Each description list keeps its label and value side by side, with the value wrapping inside its column; nothing scrolls sideways at 320 pixels.
