Overview

An alumni section for React with Base UI, written for Ambleside, a fictional HR analytics suite. On a solid divider, the start holds the header ("Where Ambleside people go next") and three figures counted from the list: alumni, the companies they went to and the median stay. The end holds a table that runs from the divider to the rail and ends the block. Each row names the alumnus (an initials avatar, a name and the role they had here), shows a tenure bar on a 0 to 8 year axis with faint ticks every two years and the years in words, and names the company they are at now with their role there. On a phone the table keeps two columns and the tenure bar moves under the name. It is built from Avatar and Guides with your theme's tokens. The people and companies are made up for the example; tenures are lengths of time, never calendar years.

FAQ

How do I change the alumni?

Edit ALUMNI at the top of the file: each has a name, the role they had, whole years at the company, where they are now and their role there. The counts, the number of distinct companies and the median stay are computed from it, and each bar's length is its years against the axis.

What is the axis?

AXIS is 8 years: a bar for someone who stayed eight years is full, and the faint ticks mark every two. Raise it if your longest stay is longer; the ticks and bars follow. The axis labels are drawings; the years are in text beside each bar, so a screen reader hears "6 years".

How is this different from the alumni network in About?

This block is the people and a control-free table of where they went and how long they stayed. The About block tells the story of the network. Use this one when you want to show the data; use that one when you want to tell it.

Is it a real table?

Yes: a native table with a caption, column headers with scope, and the alumnus as each row's header. It is the same markup on every base because the catalog's React Aria table is a grid without captions.

How does it fit on a phone?

The Years column is dropped and its bar and text move under the person's name, so each row keeps two columns and nothing scrolls sideways at 320 pixels.

Does it work right to left?

Yes. The columns follow the page direction, the figures and years are wrapped in bdi, and the bars are drawn left to right in their own dir="ltr" box because they measure a quantity.
