Overview
Show a reading service in a conversation, with this astrology reading chat for Svelte with Ark UI. A hairline frame with a plus mark on each corner holds a window of fixed height for Orreryholm, a reading service: the top bar names the astrologer, Ignatius Pell, and a note under it stays in place to say that this is for entertainment and that a chart can't predict anything. The log holds a birth chart card, a drawn wheel with twelve divisions, sign names round it and ten planets placed at typed degrees, with every placement also listed in words below it, and a compare card with two selects of signs. The result comes from a typed element matrix, not from invented percentages: a word with a glyph, Harmonious, Mixed or Challenging, and his typed line for the pair. The composer's Shine Button, the only colored control, sends typed questions to a script after a Typing Indicator Text. The frame is ruled by Guides, and everything moves with CSS only. It's the starting point for a horoscope service, a zodiac companion or any chat with a drawn chart and a pairing result.
FAQ
What stays in the page, and how do I make it real?
Everything. The astrologer's replies come from a short typed script keyed on words such as "predict" and "element", then one fallback per message and a last line that says it was the last sample reply. The placements are typed degrees, not calculated from a birth date or a time, and nothing is sent. To wire it for real, compute placements with an ephemeris on your server, pass them in as PLACEMENTS, and append the astrologer's messages to the same list as they arrive.
How is the compatibility worked out?
By element only. Each sign belongs to fire, earth, air or water, and pairingOf looks up the two elements in a typed table of ten pairs: like elements, fire with air and earth with water read Harmonious, fire with earth and air with water read Mixed, and fire with water and air with earth read Challenging. Order doesn't matter, and there is no score, because a number would claim a precision the sample doesn't have.
Is the wheel drawn from the data?
Yes. The planet labels sit at positions typed beside their degrees, and the lists below the wheel work out the sign and the degrees into it from the same numbers with plain integer maths. The wheel itself is hidden from assistive technology because the list says everything it shows, in text.
Is it usable with a keyboard and a screen reader?
The log is a focusable region announced as a log, and every message starts with a hidden name and time. Each card is a section named by its heading, the selects are labelled, the level is a glyph and a word, never a color, and the composer's status line, the one live region, says the new pair when you change a sign. Enter sends and Shift and Enter add a line.
How does it look on a phone?
The same single column: the "For entertainment" badge drops out of the top bar below the small breakpoint, but the note under it stays. The wheel scales to the card, the placements stack in one column, the two selects share a row and the composer keeps its place at the foot. The window keeps its height and only the log scrolls.
