Overview
A pictograph for React with Base UI. A centred header counts the people behind a number, "35,000 members were active this month", and under it a card in a card (a muted shell with a + on each corner round a raised panel) holds fifty person icons in ten columns and five rows. One icon stands for 1,000 members: the first 35 are solid, for the members who posted, reacted or replied, and the last 15 faint, for the ones who did not. Above the icons two figures give the counts (the active one counts up once, when it scrolls into view), and under them a plain sentence says what an icon is and what solid and faint mean. The icons, the counts, the share and the headline are all computed from the member numbers, and the icons scale with the panel, so ten fit across a 320 pixel phone. It's Lucide icons in a CSS grid with no chart library. For audience, headcount, adoption and any figure that is easier to believe as people than as digits.
FAQ
How do I change the numbers and the unit?
Edit COMMUNITY at the top of the file: members (everyone), active (those drawn solid) and perIcon (what one icon stands for). The icon count, how many are solid, the percent, the second figure and every sentence follow. The members have to divide into whole icons, so keep members and active multiples of perIcon (or round them) and the grid at ten columns.
Can I use a different icon?
Yes. The icon is Lucide's User, filled with the text colour; swap it for any Lucide icon (a package, a home, a heart) and keep fill-current if the icon should be solid. On the Vue, Svelte and Solid versions the same icon comes from the framework's Lucide package.
Why are the empty icons faint and not hidden?
A pictograph reads as a share of a whole, so the whole has to stay on screen. The faint icons are the text colour mixed to 20% into the page background, a solid tint, so they look right in light and dark themes. The count and the sentence say what faint means, so the difference isn't only a difference in tone.
Is the pictograph accessible?
The grid is one image whose name says how many icons there are, what one stands for and how many are solid and faint, and the counts are also in the figures above it and the sentence below. The icons are decorative. The counting number ends on the real value in every case, and with reduced motion it shows the value at once and the icons simply appear.
