Overview

Practise a pitch in conversation, with this startup pitch chat for React with Base UI. A hairline frame holds a window of fixed height for Pitchbowl, a founders' practice room: the investor, Elena Vandermolen, waits in the log. The composer is a pitch Textarea with a live word count, a 60 second clock you start yourself with a Progress bar, and a readout of your pace in words a minute against a typical spoken range of 130 to 160. The Shine Button reads Start pitch, then Send pitch once a take is open, with Pause and Stop beside it. Sending posts the pitch and Elena answers with three numbered questions as a card with an Answered Checkbox on each.

FAQ

What stays in the page, and how do I make it real?

Everything. The questions are a typed list in this file, the first pitch gets three and a later one gets a shorter line, and the ticks live in state. Nothing is graded or sent and no model runs. To wire it for real, send the pitch from send to your investor or coach and load the questions from their reply.

How does the clock work?

You start it: Start pitch clears the field, opens a take and counts 60 seconds down once a second. Pause and Resume hold it, Stop closes the take, and when the time is up the take closes and the status line says so. The pace is your words over the seconds taken, shown after five seconds, with a plain verdict against 130 to 160 words a minute, which is a rule of thumb and not a score.

What happens with reduced motion?

The clock does not tick. Start pitch opens one 60 second window, shown as such, and Stop or Send pitch closes it; the pace then assumes the full window and the readout says so by showing 60 s. Nothing else moves.

Is it usable with a keyboard and a screen reader?

The log is a focusable region announced as a log. The ticking number and bar are hidden from assistive technology and only the start, pause, stop and time-up events are spoken through the status line, so nothing chatters every second. Each question is a labelled checkbox that says Answered or Not answered yet.

How does it look on a phone?

The same single column: the clock, the field, the buttons and the readout stack under the log, which keeps the rest of the window and scrolls on its own.
