How many icon libraries are there?

222 libraries with 294,237 icons: 110 UI sets, 13 multicolor, 15 logo and brand sets, 12 for programming, 11 emoji sets, 10 of flags and 9 thematic, plus 42 older sets in the archive. Every icon has its own page.

Which icon library should I use?

For an interface, start with Lucide (1,655), the set shadcn/ui ships with, in one clean line style. For more, Tabler (6,033) adds filled versions, Phosphor (9,161) six weights from thin to duotone, and Material Symbols (15,862) is Google's, outlined, rounded or sharp. For brands, Simple Icons (3,632) in one color, or SVG Logos (2,063) in theirs.

Which libraries are the largest?

Fluent UI System Icons (19,257), Material Symbols (15,862) and Material Symbols Light (15,390). Size counts styles: a set that draws each icon in outline, filled and two weights has four of each.

Can I mix icons from different libraries?

Yes, but give each job one set: one UI set for controls, a logo set for brands, an emoji set for reactions. UI sets differ in grid, stroke and corners, so two side by side look mismatched. Each icon page exports at the size you pick, so mixed sets can at least share a size.

What's in the archive?

Sets that are no longer maintained, and earlier versions of sets that have a newer one here (Font Awesome 4 and 5 next to 6 and 7). They're still free to use; for a new project, the maintained set is usually the better pick.

Can I use these icons in commercial projects?

Almost all. Of the 222 libraries, 149 are MIT, Apache 2.0, ISC, BSD, OFL or public domain, free with no credit; 56 are CC BY, which asks you to credit the author; 15 are share-alike or copyleft (CC BY-SA, GPL, MPL); and 2 are for non-commercial use only: Custom Brand Icons and PrestaShop Icons. Every library and icon page names its license.
