Question 1

What does the Preregistered De icon mean?

Accepted Answer

The Preregistered-DE icon represents the Design and Endpoint preregistration badge indicating studies where both research design and primary outcome measures were specified before data collection. This symbol identifies enhanced transparency beyond basic preregistration, documenting not just hypotheses but complete analysis specifications. The DE variant signals comprehensive methodological documentation preventing outcome switching and analytical flexibility concerns.

Question 2

Where is the Preregistered De icon used?

Accepted Answer

In rigorous research transparency workflows, clinical trials document both study design and endpoints in trial registries before patient enrollment. Psychology researchers specify primary dependent variables and analysis models preventing selective outcome reporting, while economics experiments preregister experimental designs and primary outcomes. The DE badge indicates verification that reported outcomes match prespecified endpoints rather than selected from multiple measured variables.

Question 3

What does the Preregistered De icon tell users?

Accepted Answer

From a methodological transparency perspective, this icon signifies more than basic preregistration - it represents comprehensive design documentation preventing selective reporting and outcome switching, enables verification of complete analytical transparency, and provides enhanced credibility signals for research findings. This distinction helps users recognize DE preregistration as elevated transparency commitment.
